Competitive Classes

Competitive Classes are available from Ages 5 (turning 6 in current year) and above. 

Junior/Intermediate RG - Levels 1-4

Competition Opportunities start from Level 1 & 2 which are friendly, inviting and encouraging. These are for our youngest gymnasts who compete 2 routines on an adapted smaller floor area (one freehand and one apparatus). Gymnasts wear a plain black sleeveless leotard and can be assisted by their coaches if needed. Gymnasts are judged using a banded system so receive a medal or ribbon for each routine (either gold, silver or bronze). Level 1 & 2 focuses on proper body alignment, foundation skills and apparatus handling, dance and musicality. 

Next is Level 3 & 4 where Gymnasts compete on a slightly larger floor area and compete two apparatus routines. Level 3 & 4 Gymnasts get to compete in the custom club leotard and are also judged using the banding system so all gymnasts receive a ribbon or medal for each routine (gold, silver or bronze). Level 3 & 4 further develops skill and handling and flexibility, introduces acrobatic elements and free choice of balances, turns and leaps in the Gymnasts routines. 

Level 1-4 Gymnasts can compete at friendly Club Invitationals, Regional and State Level Competitions. 

Senior RG - Levels 5+

Level 5 & 6 Gymnasts compete on an even larger floor area and now have the option of wearing the club leotard or purchasing their own custom design. Gymnasts compete 2 apparatus routines and learn a freehand routine if the Gymnasts chooses to participate in the National Clubs Carnival Competition - A national level event held in the Gold Coast, Queensland. Level 5 & 6 continues to develop skills and apparatus handling, working on acrobatic elements under throws, and incorporating more expression, performance and artistry in their routines.

Level 7+ Gymnasts compete on the full size floor area, can wear their own custom leotards and choose their own music and style of routines. Level 7+ Gymnasts compete 3 apparatus routines and learn a freehand routine  if the Gymnasts chooses to participate in the National Clubs Carnival Competition - A national level event held in the Gold Coast, Queensland. Level 7+ Gymnasts develop high level skills, apparatus handling and acrobatic elements. Coaches create custom routines to suit the Gymnasts strengths and assist the gymnasts in reaching their full potential. 

Level 5+ gymnasts can compete at friendly Club Invitationals, Regional, State and National Level Competitions.

Recommended Training Hours (As per the Australian Levels Program): 

Levels 1 & 2: 1-2 Sessions of 1-1.5 Hours 

Levels 3 & 4: 2-3 Sessions of 2 Hours 

Levels 5+: 3-4 Sessions of 3 Hours
